Taiwan overly dependent on one single company

I thought Taiwan was better spread out as OEM for many different manufacturers and not so focused on Apple.

Taiwan is super dependent on Apple. The strategy worked fairly well for a long time. Before that it was Wintel based. At least it drove them to be competitive and some companies such as TSMC and Largan cab prosper as best in class.

It’s not a good thing though if all exports are so dependent on electronics business for one company , lack of service industries is telling.

That is very true.Taiwan is over reliant on China and Apple for growth, either of them can easily drag down gdp.
I haven’t read this one but I found ING to be over-negative on Taiwan in general.

Taiwan doesn’t make iPhones just the chips correct?

Also battery last time I checked.

Taiwan makes more than that

Cameras: Sony in Japan. OmniVision in the United States produces the front-facing FaceTime camera chip but subcontracts TMSC (in Taiwan) for manufacturing

Fingerprint sensor authentication: Authentec makes it in China but outsources it to Taiwan for manufacturing

whilst the Touch ID sensor found in its recent iPad and iPhone models are made in Taiwan by TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) and Xintec.
