Taiwan population decline

That’s how immigration figures are counted. Anyway, if you want to be right again that’s fine.

I bet you a pint the next figures will show net immigration up/down less than 2000. And the month after.

If it’s true they aren’t counted that’s also dumb as hell.

Every month it’s 70-80,000 coming and 70-80,000 going. With a monthly difference of 1-2000 either way.

These are all household registrations? No way, they must be including the SE Asian workers in the numbers. It’s nonsense.

Yes it must be.

That they don’t mention this in the article is pathetic.

I noted the Min of Labour said they weren’t under their regulations. Bit of a giveaway. Also only one semester of education needed first. Still it’s going to happen one way or another, there’s a severe labour shortage here.

So what has korea done to improve things that taiwan has not?

Secretly sold a bulk shipment of leaky condoms to an American army base.

It’s a pretty weak win, but South Korea is currently winning. Or, losing less.

Yea it is what it is, things are not exactly turned around. But still, looks like they are having more success than Taiwan so they must be doing something at least..compared to Taiwans almost nothing.

I have noticed a lot of new social housing going up recently over Taipei. (Shilin, zhonghe, wanhua, wenshan)
Not sure if its enough to make any difference as its just a handful of buildings after all, but its good to see, i hope it continues.

The numbers are so low it’s difficult to see what difference is being made.

Large scale importation from sub-Saharan Africa would make a significant difference for a generation or two.

It’s not only sub-Saharan Africa that has a relatively young population. Parts of Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, do as well. And given geographical proximity, a lack of students, and labour shortages, there’s a pretty fair chance that NE Asia will become increasingly SE Asian.

Either way it’s not going to happen.

Ageing population will have to be managed. AI could be a solution. Boomers may have some ideas.

I suppose we will find out whether decision makers in Taiwan like capital accumulation more than they dislike Brown or Black peoples. Based on what I’ve seen so far in Taiwan, my money is on the capital accumulation side of the ledger.

Pilipinos were the original taiwan natives
