I’ve always said, look at how many young students Taiwan paid to train up in the form of scholarships plus all the other international students that have come and gone from Taiwan over two decades.
Taiwan didn’t do a thing to try to keep them or integrate them into society or offer anything to get them to stay. What a waste, trained them up so every one one them returned home and benefited their home countries and not Taiwan. Industry was also to blame.
Even recently bus companies wanted to hire foreigners to drive and locals complained so much they backed off the idea. I guess the plan is to wait until all the services are unavailable
What were the complaints about? They think Taiwan has special drivers or what? A monkey could driver a bus better and less dangerously than the average Taiwanese bus driver.
One day it will be illegal to self-drive in Taiwan. All vehicles will be centrally controlled by an AI-powered command center. Traffic will move much more efficiently and accidents will be all but eliminated once the human element is removed from the equation. Private ownership of vehicles will be rare because on-demand vehicular transportation will be much more efficient and less expensive.

Currently the West Coast industrial areas have a lot of room for newbies. In my circle, the West coast is losing its young folks at a higher pace than I’ve seen in a long time. When the traditional industries were booming, all the rich kids and their friends from around Taiwan would come down, do their time, eventually taking over their parents positions. For the past couple of years most of those kids have disappeared, with only the most devout brats staying.
There are a lot of Vietnamese here having lots of kids, so that should help.

They do a good job mostly! Where I am from in Japan also teachers from PH do well, are kind and hard working. A lots of Japanese, Koreans and Taiwanese going to Cebu to learn English with nicw beaches and low prices,
Just let in 2 million more on Gold cards on condition they have three kids each, and problem solved. Just give any foreigner living on the island who has three kids a Gold card or immediate passport.
Exactly they can solve TW aging problem simply by allowing foreign workers in Taiwan the right to citizenship after say 7 years of legal residency
And the right to choose employers and the right to marry TW citizens.
