The problem with the discarded able-bodied old people argument is the majority of them are in a position not to work. Boomers, and now a lot of Gen X, either have enough passive income not to reenter the workforce - or they are unable to. Having said that, the numbers of them who have to/want to do this is definitely increasing.

A dystopian solution would be to harvest eggs and sperm from the population, maybe in return for entry to a new lottery system. Then use female migrant workers as surrogates, and start a government child rearing department, again staffed by the foreign workers. After a couple of generations of this, the language of Taiwan would shift to a creole of English/Tagalog/Bahasa
Alternatively, they could just provide permanent migration pathways for foreign workers and incentives for births.

Yes why itās accelerating now is due to the negative feedback loop of a smaller pool of potential parents naturally leading to a smaller pool of children nationally.

The rate of less kids being born will make each generation exponentially smaller. As there are less kids being born now its just going to keep declining unless something changes, it wont just settle.

You can skip all the nonsense and just go to the Household Registration office. We did that, and just invited a bunch of friends for a lunch party afterwards.
