位在高市前鎮與鳳山交界的高雄機廠，因應台鐵局潮州機廠完工後，預計2021年中前整廠搬遷，全廠廣達31.62公頃用地將送高市府進行都市計畫變更，根據台鐵局規劃，將保留廠內重要建築及鐵道紋理，包括貨車工場、油漆場及澡堂等，至於其餘工場則是部分保留。
除設施保留規劃，另也規劃住宅區、特定文化休閒專用區及公園、停車場等土地使用，同時也要畫設25公尺園道及區內15、20公尺寬道路，園道兩側綠化，不設分隔島，同時區內不設停車格、廣設自行車租賃站，鼓勵設置空橋、地下道等立體連通。
