Lots of malls and shopping, same amount of people, not good.
Honestly, that is not a lot of plants for such a big building. Works out to only one per floor.
Hey, at least the folks in the basement get some of them!
Plants are taking over.
I see Taipei city getting a lot of high rises now, although they are concentrated in the same two areas, Nangang and Xinyi.
Good! Taiwan will look a lot nicer.
My god. What a twattish scene. Looks like something out of North Korea.
Some projects connected to jobs and potential future employment—good.
Lots of luxury flats. Come on! The housing costs in Taipei are already a joke. What’s being done about affordable housing?
More shopping malls? With the acceleration of online shopping, this is chasing after a shrinking market. At best it will lead to cannibalizing other malls which will then close down. The exception would be restaurants and eateries which continue to do well.
I’d be more interested in fascinating projects like the Tainan Spring rejuvenation of a dead shopping mall space into something lovely and actually useful, as discussed over here:
I’d also be interesting in more greening projects, and how to make our ever-hotter cities cool down.

Here’s what’s proposed for the Taoyuan Train station area, which adds a stop for the MRT currently under construction and a large shopping mall.
Here’s what the area looks like now for comparison:
I’m really curious how the finished product will compare to the proposal. The train station was already overhauled a couple of years ago and is a vast improvement over the old one.
For all these design pictures: how accurately do they reflect the eventual landscaping? I often see these fantastic pictures of lovely spires towering out of a gorgeous park - when actually it’ll be hemmed in by lots of other buildings, nary a tree to be seen. A construction project is in its early stages near Danshui MRT Station, and the pictures on the walls have the future building surrounded by fields, despite the fact it’s in a dense area.
