Taiwan Receipt Lottery

I don’t know, perhaps something I don’t have set up or they’re just being nice, this is what I got;

Sticking the details into 發票查詢 - Amego 光貿電子發票加值中心 lead to being able to download a pdf of the receipt which then could be printed (2 side printing A4 only!), alternatively there was some way to connect to an App and get paid through that but I’d had enough of electronic “convenience” by then and just did the caveman print.

If you paid for a purchase by card, or if the seller issues a receipt, then you’d have one, and of course with the possibility of winning, not that I won any… chance of winning is so low.

Not all sellers will issue a receipt… the COD only ones often don’t.

Finally got to 7-11 with my carefully double sided printed paper and was rather vexed to be told I would only receive NT$498! The bastards. Even after handing over the 2NT suggested by the clerk in order to receive a disappointingly crumbled NT$500 note rather than a handfull of shrapnel my win euphoria has been severely dented. Those who giveth do indeed take away.

I won 800nt, ironically for buying Costco pizza and hot dog when they didn’t have combo pizza.

I haven’t checked yet, but I’m going to go ahead and predict that I’ve won NT$0 again, for the 10th or something time in a row. :roll:

I think if you got your receipts in the app, they email you if you win anything. So no email, no win.

They do, I know. Not all of my receipts are in the app.

Me too. I only ever win something with the cloud invoices.

Woah, something must be off. I won two digital invoices. 1,000 and 200. Last time 500. If I were still in Taiwan for November or December, maybe I would have kept the doubling trend. But alas.

I think it’s random but not quite random. I think it’s like lotteries you have to pay for, they have a certain amount they pay out and draw based on that. So if they’re paying 20 million then they draw only numbers that would require them to pay this much.

They used to add three-digit bonus prize numbers for the paper fapiao, presumably for this very reason, but I haven’t seen them do that for ages.

How else could it work?

Good luck! :four_leaf_clover:

I never bother with the receipt lottery ever since I got a barcode years ago. Everything’s automatic. Do people still keep receipts around?

A few places like restaurants and pharmacy in my neighborhood have to issue fapiao but they can’t scan your code.
