Ive been married 9 years and lived most of that time in china and now Macau. We have no kids. My wife now wants a divorce. I have pleaded with her to allow me to get the APRC and we can then separate as best friends. This doesn’t seem to be happening. What are my options with regards to the APRC ? Do the years spent as being married count for anything or does it start when I obtained the ARC through marriage in 2014?

is your ARC/APRC based on marriage or work? if its for work, call first.

If I can “fix” this with a few minutes on a phone call - rather than a trip to the Banqiao office - then sure; but if it changes my immigration status, no thanks.

I was told it doesn’t affect your immigration status, its just that they need to register in the system you are married to a Taiwanese citizen and that requires an ID number. mine said married but they didn’t know to who.

Taiwan is a ‘jus sanguinis’ country. Meaning if one of the parents were Taiwanese citizens at the time of the child’s birth, the child is automatically eligible for Taiwanese citizenship, even if they were born overseas. There should be no need for an APRC.

No, but if you work without a ‘work permit’ you could explain why you don’t have one if they catch you, status as spouse.

Not if my life depended on it. Local storage only for me. I have backups. I just want the NAS running again.
