Taiwan Vodka: Deep Blue

I went to PX Mart last weekend and got a bottle of something branded as vodka…made in Taiwan. The brand name was Deep Blue. They were selling it with a free can of 7up (that should have been a red flag).

I was looking to make a White Russian, so I figured that the vodka quality shouldn’t really matter…typically I’ll only taste the Kahlua and milk. Boy, was I wrong. I made my drink and the first sip was absolutely terrible.

I went to check the vodka, and it smelled and tasted like bai jiu, despite being branded as vodka. I proceeded to dump the entire bottle.

Serves me right, I’m sure, and I’m sure most here know better, but I thought I would make this thread as a public service announcement.

Edited to note that the name is in fact Deep Blue.

Dont feel bad. We have all bought 1 bottle of that hand santiz er (with the 7up can as well haha). That stuff is pretty nasty. Hangovers in a bottle.

Seems like this is back at PX Mart as a replacement for SKY vodka. Can confirm it smells a bit weird but the price is right! <300 NT at the time of writing.

If you want cheap vodka just get the Taiwan generic “Vodka” bottle. Ten times better than that paint remover.

You mean absolut or is there a generic vodka made in taiwan i’m not aware of? The price is good but I also like the fact its a product of taiwan and I’m presumably supporting local biz by buying it

been around for a few years. normally with a 711 can 0plastered to its side. it is seriously shitty. I’m not even a vodka person, but I would use it for.mucb of anything outside of revenge.of an enemy. even then…seems overkill. drink kaoliang instead. builds more character on the heads and/or tails at least.

Ooo interesting. I don’t think i’ve seen this before, which store can you find this in?

I’ve seen them in various stores. My local grocery store, a cooking supply store, most 小北…

Shoulda bought Deep Green instead

Better than deep blue, but still distilled poorly. TTL QC has nose dived in recent years, quite noticeably. even their beers are often inconsistent and off. luckily they are governmental and either get off the hook or can afford to pay the FDA fines without reporting, unlike what anyone else needs to adhere to…still better than supporting the Chinese stuff like Bar beer or Tsingtao. but, not by much and certainly not by QC standards!

edit. their rum is better. for cooking.
