what about their insane fruit pricing?
not related but I’ve noticed on ebay Japanese drop shippers advertise guitars for up to 5x the retail cost in Japan, often with many sellers listing the same guitar for a range of prices. Been going on for years and makes it difficult to assess a market price as they attempt to rip people off.
July 2025: The look on my face at Canada Place Subway in Vancouver, while waiting for Hullo Fast Ferry, when paying 50 dollars for two footlong sub combos. 
Not a huge fan of Subway bread, but my son wanted it, so…..
I normally don’t pay for food or groceries when I go back so was kind of shocked lol.
Seems like market forces should sort this out, i.e. a shop that sells at reasonable prices should automatically corner the market and put the rip off ones out of business.
An ebay drop shipper… what are you putting out of business exactly? Someone posting? market forces isn’t a magic bullet that makes things fair or make sense - someone listing at crazy markups actually makes total sense in a market where you can post x number of items with $0 listing fees. Hell, have a side store where you have one to prey on people not paying attention along with a regular store.
Somethings price is worth it so long as someone is willing to pay it. The fruit cna be insane. But can also be normal. The business and family culture here allow for insanely market up fruit (amongst other things) that are in a box and sold at the right time of year. Hard to blame the middlemen selling things expensive when so many people are willing to pay for it. Sucks for the less wealthy, for sure! Food prices here are literally insane. THAT is a legitimate complaint about food in Taiwan, 100%
