Taiwan's 2024 Presidential Election

Huh? Lai is a native speaker of Taigi. He used to respond to questions in Tainan’s City Council completely in Taigi.

The VP candidates’ presentations / debate took place tonight. That Jaw fellow keeps delivering gifts to the DPP, apparently telling people on TV tonight “that Lai Ching-te is his boss and his hero who will fight black gold, and that Lai would be a good president.”

Another win for @anon24369109 ! lol

Symbolism.

A win is a win lol

I don’t watch a lot of Stan from Poland’s videos, but he actually went to interview the miners and it’s definitely worth a watch.

Ko has a big _____ ?

C Donovan Smith writing at Taiwan News has released his latest poll of polls, with remarkable consistency in recent weeks. Will there be any breakthroughs in the next couple of weeks before the election?

Guy

Saw the news about hou you yi owning a whole building and charing students 16000 for taofangs. So i think we have a leader on the property hoarding category. That C*nt has over 100!

Ko is not going to win. He should endorse the KMT and might end to getting a nice position in a blue government. Anything but 賴 . Splitting the vote (if his lot will actually vote if he’s not on the ticket) is a selfish move. FFS look at all the dolls and balloons in his image. Conceited and delusional.

Whore mouth.

Summary: Beijing’s influence is evident, with the Communist Party attempting to sway the election via disinformation campaigns. Security concerns over Taiwan Strait are prominent, especially with U.S. involvement in Taiwan’s defenses. The election’s outcome is crucial given Taiwan’s key role in global microchip supplies and its potential impact on global security dynamics

Lai’s lifelong partner Wu Mei-ju (吳玫如) typically keeps a low profile—I don’t remember seeing her at all on the campaign trail. But now with the stakes so high she had stepped in front of the camera to speak about and endorse her husband. You decide how effective this is as a campaign strategy (video seems to be in Chinese only):

Guy

If others focus on cats, why not?

I didn’t even know her name.

Ko’s family is such an embarrassment.

And isn’t Hou’s wife involved in some scandal now about charging students sky-high rents in one of their many properties?

Guy

Yeah but I don’t really pay attention to him.

No way. We need non-blue opposition parties that are actually loyal to Taiwan.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Puma Shen explaining how China has been using an SOP to spread disinformation online and to prop up their preferred candidates.

Claims such as Taiwan’s freedom of speech has diminished, or Taiwan spent too much trying to maintain diplomatic relations, or Taiwan spent to much building our own submarine, or Taiwan’s public safety is deteriorating are all Chinese campaigns spanning over more than half a year.

He also quoted a report on Chinese disinformation campaign, done by Microsoft of all people, on the typical Chinese disinformation operation.

China will cultivate a whole host of different internet personas, most would usually seem as very impartial, but when an operation starts they would coordinate to spread and reinforce disinformation.

This is absolutely a fact of life in 2023.

Keep in mind the DPP has put specialists like Puma Shen on their at-large legislator list. The KMT apparently beloved by the anyone-but-Lai crowd here on forumosa placed the notoriously lazy clown Han Kuo-yu at the top of their list.

Lest we forget:

Tiktok should be banned completely and immediately.
