Take action against Taiwan bank tax residency tax certificates

No. But I bring something to the table she can’t in the form of technical expertise and the ability to close business deals so nobody has the complete upper hand.

Taiwanese women are a different breed.

I’m going to say something that some might disagree with but I’d use FSC complaints sparingly and for things that are causing a direct urgent issue with you. If people keep hammering them with every complaint in a short time, they may just decide to not help or become even more unhelpful. Just saying

Is the FSC’s current helpfulness level higher than zero?

it does, being reported as resident in a jurisdiction where I’m not does affect me.

As affects everyone, you will just know when it’s too late.

So being declared as a “tax resident” in a country that you are not doesn’t affect you ‘directly?’

Wait until you go home and then find that upon leaving you are denied because you are under investigation for tax fraud… Because declaring an incorrect residency on a CRS document is tax fraud and I am sure the bank will have its own way out…

Yep, your signature.

Thank you for your blowing of the whistle.

well, they don’t seem to have any other complaint avenue, and talking on the phone is not traceable. Need substantiate proof of the fuck-up and their fucked-up response.

Seems to be a “yes” and “yes”

Commonwealth seems to be the outlet of choice for unusual rants these days …

@comfy123 @Mataiou

Y’all know I fully support you guys in dealing with these issues. I’ve made many a complaint to FSC myself.

All I’m saying is if we could get a flood of different people complaining they will take notice. Multiple complaints from the same person will eventually get you ignored. Let’s just say that was my own personal experience.

Anyway keep fighting the fine fight. I’ve become a bit cynical over the years as they just dig in and refuse to change so I sound more jaded than you both

U r a good person, I know. But some might read ur message differently.

Reading these horror stories, I find myself astonished that the financial institutions I’ve dealt with—Mega Bank in Zhongshan District; the post office in Daan—have not done me wrong. Well OK the credit card division of Mega Bank is bullocks. But aside from them, honestly no problems I can think of in nearly twenty years. :person_shrugging:

Guy

Post office is a very positive experience for me too, never dealt with banking at mega bank, only had a credit card with them and no issues whatsoever.

They r just quite expensive for transfers imo. It seems u got the 2 better ones haha.

So far so good. Hope it stays that way.

Guy

I mean, my used to be main bank, cathay, is very good imo, but just don’t like the 6 usd they charge me for each incoming foreign transfer. Otherwise some of the best fx rates and service, and it seems they did my CRS kinda correctly too

Have you actually checked whether they’re declaring you as tax-resident in Canada though?

They send me a tax notice (with interest earned, and some funds withheld) every year. No issues to date.

Guy

And are they withholding the non-resident rate of 20%, and does it list you as being tax-resident in Canada…?
