Tanuki Goden: Japanese open kitchen restaurant

This place used to have a popular eatery in Taipei in the old Japanese area with all the small narrow side streets along Linsen North Road, but they lost their rental agreement and had to move to Taichung a few years ago. Has anyone in Taichung been there and how was the food and the service and the prices?

A Tanuki is some kind of legendary animal in Japan. and if you rub the belly as you walk into the shop, good luck will follow you all the days of your life, according to myth.

I think tanuki goden means “Tanuki Castle” in Japanese and the owner is a Hokkaido man from Japan married to a Taiwanese woman longtime marriage.
