Just wondering if you need to show the box when claiming TRS at the airport? I bought a watch but threw out the box
no, just the receipts.
English information about the tax refund for tourists
I just did this yesterday. Had to show all the watches, the matching serial number cards, and the receipt. They were all in the original boxes as the overseas recipient wants them. I also had but was not asked for proof of payment. It does not matter if the goods are purchased on a Taiwan credit card only that the person claiming the refund is here on a tourist entry.
So scan the receipt provided by the vender. Show the goods at the customs desk. Then go check in get boarding passes bring back, then they process the cash refund in NT$β¦ You can at the same counter then convert to other currencies.
There was no discussion about how the goods were paid for. The refund is 5% but there is a service fee of 20% so you get 4% back on watches.
Fuck me though. Canβt they have a cap on the service fee???
One would think 5% same as GUI would be enough and say 5% for them.
I really dislike when governments farm this kind of stuff out to private companies.
