Teaching English at a buxiban - age limit?

I was just wondering if there is an age limit to teaching at a buxiban…or is it just that schools prefer younger teachers?

Anyone here over 50 or 60 teaching English?

I would say that they prefer younger people. However, many places are looking for teachers so can’t be picky.

I don’t know anyone who started over 50, but there are quite a few who have grown old here.

I don’t ask ages, but I’ve seen one or two older-looking people. Not up to 60, I think. It’s a big drain on energy at most schools. If someone is a registered teacher, especially with experience, that would make them a good candidate at a public school. Discrimination is illegal, but a lot of cram schools will discriminate based on age, especially if one “looks old”. But if you’re a cheerful, energetic 50+, you might do alright.
