a language school where I teach was asked by a few high schools to design a ‘pre-IELTS’ textbook. Their pupils, according to them, are not ready to engage with ‘real’ IELTS preparatory course books, and need something simplified, yet following the format of the test with the reading and writing components. They’re hoping for some 100-page ‘manual’. I would be designing the practice tasks (essentially dumbing down original ones, I would imagine) and another Taiwanese English teacher would be writing Chinese instructions and explanations. Any idea what money I can ask for for the entire project?
I think this is a really difficult thing to answer without experience doing this type of work and more details about what the project requires. I’d say you need to try to gauge how many hours of work you’d likely need to complete it, decide your hourly rate, and go from there.
