That start-up conference for foreigners

After talking to one person who thought we were talking about American dollars, let me state that the RSVP price is 250 Taiwanese dollars!

Take care, Elias

What are the rules about bringing and using recording devices?

Just got back from “that start-up conference for foreigners” (I think the title of this thread should be edited) and I honestly think it was an afternoon well spent (and that’s not just because I won that prize ).

I believe they said another conference is coming up in April and I’m sure I’ll go to that one as well (assuming it’s on a topic of interest).

Even though the food from JB’s was a little short on supply, it was nice and tasty.

Well… I said something (I felt obligated to since I won  ).

Thanks Enspyre .

:bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: to Miltown Kid for winning the big prize, albeit by cheating. You’ll go far.

So now you have to start a business! What’s it going to be?

I agree with miltown kid. I got confirmation of information which I heard earlier but nobody was sure if it is true.

I’m goint to try and get Elias/Ann to summarise all that was said in writing so that there’s a handy reference source online for all of us. Lots of useful info there.

MK, the next one will be in Chinese!

That’s not a problem for me. :sunglasses:

Well… Not a big one anyway  .

Congrats! But what did you do to win?

Yay miltownkid! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. So how much was that plane worth, anyway?

If I remember correctly (Elias will send an email about it). 1 year of free services from Enspyre ( www.taiwanfun.com ). And 6 months of free consulting from Ann Hu (she’s an accountant).

Miltown, I think you forgot a zero.

Congratulations! also.

No, what did you DO to win? It was called the “Entrepreneurial Challenge” but I could never figure out from the ads exactly what the challenge was.

He showed up firstly. Then, he took 80% of my answers. I guess I messed up on the other 20% Happy to support a fellow entrepreneur in any way

I think you’re right

I was just making sure everyone was paying attention.

Oops… I wrote about it in me blog.

[quote=“miltownkid”]Basically there was this quiz that asked a bunch of questions about what the speakers said. Things like

Thats doesnt sound like a particularly ‘entrepreneurial’ quiz… more like a pub quiz !

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to thank everyone for coming. The final tally was 112!

That nice looking Citation jet from Cessna do indeed cost 6,500,000 list price. I called Gulfstream first to get a price on one of their planes but they just kept telling me that they “did not have a department for these kinds of requests.” At Cessna it took 1 minute to get a salesperson to give me price.

If anyone have any ideas for how we can improve the seminar I am all ears.

Take care,
Elias

Look forward to the notes. WIsh I had been there. Any idea when the next English language one is?

Good one on securing Ann Hu’s services for 6 months. She is incredibly helpful, and Enspyre seem to be on the ball as well.

Hi, I have read a couple of posts regarding the post-seminar buffet at JB’s. It is really I who has to apologize. The arrangement that we had with JB’s was for them to put up a nice complimentary buffet for the seminar participants but we had not said the food would last all night. We figured that we could all go over there, eat and enjoy and then they would discontinue the buffet after a while since they need that space for seating. In addition to this PLAN, we had underestimated the number of people who would actually join us over at JB’s. So some people who came a bit later ended up without any buffet. We are of course happy that so many people did join us, but some bad estimates from my part has brought undue heat on JB’s and I am very sorry for that.

Personally I had a great time, I think the food in the buffet was great and I think many enjoyed the 1+1 beer offer from Abbot Ale/Old Speckled Hen.

Once again, sorry for the miscommunication/miscalculation.

My bad,
Elias

I thought the food was great but that wasn’t the point, was it? The seminar was great.

What I learned there will really help me starting my business.

I alspo just signed up with Enspyre for their virtual office service. Thius way I can start the business and have someone taking my phonecalls while I am still earning my daily bread teaching.
