I was actually a bit surprised to learn that Switzerland now has more immigrants per capita than the UK, for whatever that’s worth.
On the other hand, Switzerland is quite mountainous, for whatever that’s worth. 
Switzerland is also landmined to the gills to prevent any possible invasion, for what that’s worth. During WWII that was their defense strategy: blow up every train track, bridge, and mountain pass with dynamite, and if any Nazi bastards managed to break through, face villages full of heavily armed Swiss, women, children, and elderly included. Hitler didn’t contemplate it for even a second.
They also needed somewhere to stash some money if things went wrong.
