PSA: the timtams in Carrefour are contaminated. Just opened a pack and there’s bugs inside. Took them back and they said it’s the second pack they’ve seen in recent days with said bugs. For sure these have been sitting in a warehouse somewhere because clearly these bugs are hatched from eggs. Still a mystery how the eggs get inside the packaging.
I told them if they’re still there tomorrow I’m calling Apple Daily.
What a disappointment. I noticed they were on discount, so bought a pack out of curiosity (hmm I wonder what kind of bugs? “Biscuit weevils”?). But no weevils to be found. Now I’ll have to eat the whole pack to justify my purchase.
PS. For lostinasia: This is not a recomendation to try your own “experimental purchase”. With the two that the bear mentioned, there is still a 2/3 anecdotal chance you’ll get weevils. They must have been on discount for a reason… And evil weevils can infest your whole pantry… your big bag of rice, your pastas… Not worth it, fella.
Thanks for the diligent work and sacrifice, protecting all of us!
Sadly, due to your warnings, I didn’t buy any when they were on special a couple of weeks ago. But the Danshui Carrefour hasn’t had any white chocolate flavour lately anyway, and that’s the one I prefer.
The Hsinchu (Zhubei) branch is going to close down by the end of October. It is so very sad. It’s my one stop shopping for all my groceries for so long.
I used to remember being excited to go to a carrefour hypermarket but it really lost their charm. The hypermarkets just look sad now and most the time they don’t even stock what I needed, so I end up buying it on shopee.
