The Carrefour 2024 and onward thread

Oh, now I feel stupid. I do order from Costco. Coffee beans and maple syrup arriving today or tomorrow!

But I’m also fortunate enough with my schedule that going out for groceries is a chance to go for a walk and stretch my legs, and most of the walk to the nearish big Carrefour is moderately pleasant.

I have a suggestion for the Uni-President President for rebranding his newly captured stores: Merde! C’n’est pas Bon! I’m sure they can find auspicious Chinese characters for that.

It’s all about the bottom line.

Profit and money over customer service, customer convenience, customer options.

And the Taiwan government is complicit.

The government did block the Uber / Food Panda would-be merger, ‘cause that would have led to a monopoly.

The government does seem complacent though with this newly minted duopoly. :slightly_frowning_face:

嬤的!射內死怕碰?

Amazing that they’ve kept the pan dept lady. never seen a more worthless job in my life.

Pad that retirement

Four Mia C’bon and one Carrefour to close over the next few weeks.

Will they call the closing down event the Mia C’bon Voyage?

I feel there is some unfortunate symbolism in the fact that February 28 is the end here for these stores.

Bon Voyage Carrefour, we’ll miss you

Does Carrefour or mia Cbon or city super sell pate at all? Its something I’ve never even thought of to look for.

Doesn’t help that the parent company is named 統一

Freagin Taiwan government letting food supply become consolidated and even now almost monopolistic.

They said a couple years ago that it would be better after one company absorb the other supermarkets.

Yes thanks for less.

Recently spied some new products both more expensive (olives) and cheaper (pickles). Haven’t tried either. Also noticed some 20-30% price increases (baguettes and small whole ham). Will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

Was just reading there is Aldi in China, maybe there is hope for an expansion.

I’ve never been in an Aldi or Lidl though

I think it’s more exact to say we have emerging duopolies.

That doesn’t take away the basic point you’re making: that is is not good news for us as consumers. Great for the duopolists though!

Guy

They do get discounted though.

I regret it every time I buy one though. Its like rock. And thats after I’ve attempted to freshen it up, I don’t get it.

Same.

I prefer the RT/Mega PX ones.

the 1-2 knockout of Carrefour and RT simultaneously. My ears are ringing from the constant shit being amplified now. It’s like before the before.

House brand good deals no longer (except carrefour for now) and western stuff being disappeared or jokingly curated

New name is here and it’s awful.

I don’t think I’ll ever say that name. Maybe to call it leviathan…
