Holy shit, this makes the Twitter→X rebranding look intelligent by comparison.
but will they retain the NAKERY branding???
Translate to Englishee please?
That is exceptionally awful.
Looks like another Jason’s situation. I’ll continue to call it carrefor.
樂家康 sound be translated to Le Ieyasu if it’s up to me.
So . . . if a key figure in the Tokugawa Shogonate during the Edo Period in Japan was handed a French definite article. ![]()
WTF!
Guy
He is "the’ Tokugawa, after all.

In Chinese they’ve taken “Carrefour”, flipped the first two characters / syllables, and added a new ending character.
Following that exact logic, the English should be ReCarKang.
Following the spirit of their new name, the English should be Carrethree.
LK Mart
In Mandarin: Lèjiākāng.
That’s the best they could come up with? ![]()
Holy shit I’ve only just found out Carrefour is leaving and I’m gutted. It is THE place to get decent quality wine for a cheap price - they are well known for hiring top sommeliers to secure great wine at bargain prices. That’s gonna be completely gone now with the new owner isn’t it. Also bye bye decent bread.
Adding Carrefour to the list of places long-term expats will only reminisce about now, along with M&S and Tesco.

Also good beer! Recently bought several 500ML cans of German stout for $39 each, that’s basically the same as a 7-11 Taiwan beer! Some beers were overpriced, but could just wait for them to be reduced.
Carrefour also had interesting food for USA and Europe, was always a pleasure shopping there.
Also bye bye decent bread.
Costco
Costco
True, thank god for Costco, although not as convenient as the five Carrefours within walking distance from my apartment.

We’ll see what happens. And perhaps not quite the same as M&S and Tesco, since neither lasted here long enough to get nostalgic about!
OK, maybe Tesco was around for a bit. I remember buying decent jarred curry sauces there for a few months, but the localization came fast, and then a chain I no longer visited lingered on for a while. But wasn’t M&S pretty much a blink and you missed it shop in Xinyi?
It does concern me that Carrefour seemed the last place I could find Raisin Bran or Shredded Wheat, and I haven’t seen either in a couple of months now.
Also good beer!
I haven’t seen any interesting North American beer there in a while now. A pity: for a number of years it was good for getting nice selections from apparently random North American craft(ish) breweries, at affordable prices.
FWIW, as someone–sorry, I forget who–suggested in the beer thread, the Simple Mart fridge is a surprisingly good place to get decent imports at relatively low prices.
That logo looks pretty budget, a truly second rate version of the Carrefour logo.

keeping the colours then they don’t need to repaint the stores
