Circling back, mine ended up being approved after 20 days for Digital under salary rules.
Hello, I am currently exploring Taiwan GC and I have a couple of questions – looking forward to your thoughts/advice. ![]()
I am currently working and living in Singapore under Employment Pass and I work for a FinTech company as a Platform Infrastructure Engineer. I plan to apply for 3yr validity under salary rules – will it be Digital or Finance? I’m pretty sure it’s more relevant to apply under Digital but wanted to confirm here as well ![]()
I don’t have plans yet of moving to Taiwan permanently in the next year or so but definitely considering Taiwan for settling down in the future. My company allows remote working for maximum of 90 days per year and I plan to use most of these days working remotely in Taiwan while exploring the country. Would you recommend applying for GC now, or should I delay it until I’m finally ready to leave Singapore?
And let’s say if I apply now for GC and got approved, will I face any issues in the future for GC extension or for 2nd GC application if NIA checks my travel history to/from Taiwan and they see that I’m staying for less than 90 days each year over the last 3yrs and has never paid any income tax?
I wanna make sure I don’t lose the chance of getting APRC in the future.
Looking forward to your advice! Thank you!
Fellow fintech former GC and now APRC (but from HK) here.
They don’t care too much about what u do in the fintech company, as long as you submit a properly stamped certificate of employment which shows you have been working there for 3 years and you show that the company is indeed a regulated entity with the necessary authorisation for the jurisdiction of operation. I would suggest do that as FSC is faster than other agencies to approve.
Regarding the renewal/new GC it’s a brand new application, if you satisfied the requirements once for fintech, you will always qualify unless they change the rules. They don’t normally care about residency, that’s relevant only for APRC.
Hello, one question regarding the application. Can I choose any chinese name if I currently do not have one? Would that then be accepted, or is the field meant for an already existing name? Thx
As long as it is not anything offensive, they will accept anything and do not request any supporting documents
Rumor has it that there’s at least one foreigner in Taiwan called 一一一 ![]()
You can add one later or change it if you like. Its not a free change though for just the Chinese name, but if you bundle it in with adding the residential address when you have one then it would be free.
I’m yet to run into any issue in not having a chinese name.
tbh, only when you get married to a citizen here you are required by law to get one to be registered as a note on the spouse HHR. Otherwise, no need.
When I registered ownership of my scooter years ago they wanted a chop, at that point I thought maybe I need a Chinese name but the shop had no issues putting an English name on the chop so it was fine. Marriage Registration or Naturalisation I think is the only situation where a Chinese name is required.
I just used my signature for scooter rego, bank, and lease etc.
some are more of a stickler to the seal thing than others, even to foreigners. But mostly I just use the seal at official places like banks and gov, banks since they can never say “it doesn’t look like your signature on record”. They are so happy when they see the seal, it’s faster tbh
The bank teller said, “I cant read your signature”
I replied, that is kind of the point. (Or at least prevent others copying it)
Those chops are easily copied.
they are, but they can’t give 2 shits. that’s safe for them…
Alright, so I applied for the Gold Card yesterday and my application randomly vanished? I can still look up the paid receipt through my application number, but everything else is gone.
It is not showing up under “Case Status Check” either. Did it just get wiped from their system, or what happened here…
I logged into the wrong portal. Ignore this comment lmao
it happens to the best of us, and TW “digital” bureaucracy doesn’t help at all
Anyone here with a Digi Gold Card who can share their experience with how long "Consulting with Ministry of Digital Affairs" takes on average? I applied through the salary criteria. Thanks.
I’m in the middle of the same (Digital, by salary). My timeline so far:
2026-07-05: Applied
2026-07-06: Online Payment complete
2026-07-08: Initial Review by National Immigration Agency complete
2026-07-09: Secondary Review by National Immigration Agency complete
2026-07-29: Approval email from Ministry of Digital Affairs
2026-07-30: Review by Workforce Development Agency complete
2026-07-30: Notice to Report to a Taiwan Representative Office
So WDA’s consultation with the Ministry of Digital Affairs took about three weeks.
