She may have killed the golden goose of Australian companies offshoring now as the only reason they do that is due to currency and cost of living arbitrage.
Which is great for Australian workers onshore who will now be increasingly hired but not in her countrymans favour. As the boss said.
“And have I employed somebody to replace her from the Philippines? Absolutely not.”
Simple. Register your company in Taiwan and pay all your workers in Australia the minimum wage in Taiwan.
That’s what a large telecom in Canada does. They own an international subsidiary that’s registered in the Philippines. Then the main company hires them out from their subsidiary at local wages.
Plus it screws over Filipinos by onshoring their remote jobs back to Oz.
