What a load of shite! If you are planning on going to see it make sure you take a pillow, good book (or junk mail it would still be more interesting) and a lamp.
If however, you were a fan of anything like the Celstine Prophercy you might be interested, but that’s because your interest threshold is already at a proven low.
It’s about death and letting go.
No, I won’t be applying to the China Post as a movie reviewer.
Perhaps it’s time to introduce the Shiteometer !! Actually I wasn’t as offended as Fox was by this film (and I’m not a fan of ‘The Celestine Prophecy’ I can assure you.) To be honest, I felt that Jackman and Weisz coped well with a storyline and lines that at times threatened to descend into farce. That said I found myself still thinking about the film a few hours later, or was it the hallucinatory quality of some of the visuals that had triggered some of the old chemicals in my brain ? It’s a bit of a ‘wonderful’ love story though, isn’t it ? Not only from Issi to Donny but from Aronofsky to his pregnant partner, Weisz. My girlfriend rather than giggling away at the end was in tears. She told me the reason a lot of the audience was sniggering was because they couldn’t understand it.
To go back to the shite. If this was a bucket of shite then where would you put ‘The Prestige’ which really outshite it
