Yeah, I’ve had that feeling quite a few times when watching movies which were supposed to be “OMG so great. Such artistry… :blah:.”
Sometimes those are good movies which just did not age well. Sometimes they were just bad movies to begin with but some pundit somewhere gave them an A+ and then the sheep thought it would be better to agree with the pundit rather than risk looking like an uncultured idiot.
Since I don’t mind looking like an uncultured idiot, I usually don’t mind asserting that this or that cult classic is a bore.

For the French Connection, you had to have been there. It was new and different at the time. Most movies nowadays are just long sequences of car chases. It’s like Star Wars, the first one was really cool because it was unexpected and different. Groundbreaking.
