I pretty much gave up on this forum about the time I gave up on traditional politics as a means of addressing the problems of a complex emergent symbiotic system. However, for those of you who are not mere mouthpieces for a political ideology, and are wondering what the hell is going on, I would like to present the following information:
(For those of you who ARE utterly partisan, I strongly suggest first watching this excellent 10-minute presentation before responding: Skewed Views of Science It applies to far more than science, and, were it presented in an understandable manner to the entire population of the Earth, might foment radical positive change, not to mention the collapse of 99% of the rackets in existence.)
Now, as for the other stuff…
This is an explanation of why money is, in spite of popular libertarian ‘wisdom’, absolutely not connected to the physical and energy resources of this planet, and why the perpetual-growth, cyclical-consumption-based capitalism, in which words like “GDP growth” and “consumer spending” figure so prominently, is destined to fail for scientific rather than ideological reasons.

This 4-part BBC documentary explains how psychology took a key role both in business and politics in the 20th century, why politics has changed so radically since the early 80’s, and basically how the total corporate capture of politics and society has been achieved. It is also inextricably-linked with the problems of the above article, in explaining why politics is impotent in dealing with the problems presented.

Chris Martenson’s The Crash Course This is a 20-part lecture on the explaining the problems of exponential debt growth necessitated by our current monetary system, and how they are interrelated with the energy problem described in 1) above. I’ve actually presented The Crash Course on this forum once before, but it’s so brilliant I can’t resist mentioning it again.

Awakening This is video is related to 1) and 3) above, describing the problem of the monetary/price system as it relates to scientific innovation and technological development. It explains the looming problem of technological unemployment more lucidly than anything I’ve ever seen, and unlike all the other information presented above, points at a comprehensive solution to all of the above problems. (If you are tempted to comment on the somewhat cheesy accompanying music in this video, please realize you aren’t being witty - you are exhibiting your corporate programming by focusing on inessential points to plug you own social status at the expense of actual learning!)
