The Great Run On Toilet Paper 2018 & 2020 & 2021 & 2022!?

They splurge on unnecessary vanity crap like Louie Vutton pursues that are 50k NTD as well. But then complain about how much the bill will cost if the air conditioning is below 27 Celsius during the summer. They’re maddeningly contradictory in their nature.

Yep, at first I was behind her, keeping a safe distance away. By the time I got close enough to see who she was, she began carrying the giant package with one arm, while pushing the bike with the other (giving up on balancing it I assume) so the tissues obscured her face.

She later exclaimed to me that the prices were going up so she had to buy it now, before the shelves were empty. She explained that she used to volunteer with some event at her university that gifted her tons of toilet paper, so she never had to buy it before.

That’s such a weird gift for a university to give out. I mean it’s very practical, but it still has a weird “Yo, we heard you like to take big dumps, so here’s an endless supply of toilet paper” vibe to it.

People use the stuff to blow their noses too, you know. Sheesh.

What really irks me is that I spend so much time reading the news and threads about this stupid issue.

Can’t… Look… Away…

Taiwanese people don’t blow their noses ! Don’t you know you can get brain damage doing that or even blow your brain out your nose?!

While you would expect a price rise in raw materials to result in higher toilet paper prices globally, there have so far been few reports of such a trend.
In fact in the US it is expected that competition among the big players in common household goods - including loo roll - will push prices down for consumers.

How come?! Why is it happening in Taiwan only?

I see them blowing their noses all the time. This actually explains a lot.

I wonder if it’s the mentality that the person got one over on the big bad conglomerate, even though I spent a ton of time and gas to save a few cents.

The whole thing is probably a scam by the people that control toilet paper. They probably saw a future oversupply and just wanted to get rid of it quickly.

Well played.

Missing an extra zero at the end there.

I think your girlfriend may have lied to you and pocketed the difference.

Oh he’s right on that. 50K is Coach, LV add more zeroes.

Thanks, Icon, for ruining my practical joke.

We womanship stay together.

Like this article explains when Taiwanese see the words “out of stock” or “free” they go insane.
