One of JPs on-point rants.
JP clips still occasionally appear in my feed. I’ve noticed he’s started to sound more and more like Christopher Walken would sound if Christopher Walken were playing a headteacher.
Everyone seems to be pretending COVID never happened these days, but there’s an interesting interview here with a doctor who lived through it at the sharp end. JP doesn’t interject a whole lot.

Yeah, but some damage has definitely been done, especially to kids who had long lockdowns and/or years of constant masking in the classroom. I think a postmortem is in order, because there will be a next time.

No, that isn’t it. “Moving on” from something that’s still happening is an extremely bad idea.
I’m not going to rant about this, but a lot of people want to forget what was said and done because they were a part of it, however small a role they played. Even if was just making mean-spirited jokes about “the unvaccinated”, or “Covidiots”, they (understandably) want to pretend they didn’t do it. There are also a lot of people who are so traumatized by things that were done to them that any discussion brings back painful memories.
And the point there is that because nobody wants to talk about it, the people who indulged in serious crimes on the back of public enthusiasm - such as the religious kooks who went after Jensen there - will get away with it. No “lessons will be learned”. Nobody will be fired, disciplined, or prosecuted. The exact same thing will happen again, with the volume turned up to 11, when the opportunity arises.
The conversation with JP involves the whole underlying problem with failed bureaucracies. One of the most disturbing parts (for me) was the way Jensen was attacked. He describes it in detail. They were unable to find anything to actually pin on him, so they resorted to just harassing him, trying to provoke him into a response which would incriminate him in some trivial way. At the same time, they refused to describe (when asked) exactly what actions they were likely to investigate him about.
These organisations haven’t magically reconstructed themselves; they’re as bad as they ever were. They know now, as an incontrovertible fact, that they are unconstrained either by the Law or by ethical considerations. Perhaps worse, because all the decent people have either walked away or been fired, and various crooks and zealots (Susan Mitchie springs to mind) have been promoted to positions where they can continue doing damage.
Not me! I still keep making mean-spirited jokes about the unvaccinated because they’re still Covidiots.
Yes, I’m well aware that there’s a hardcore of committed ideologues who still believe that there is no god but COVID and Fauci is his prophet. Fortunately they’re a smallish minority of the population and the only people they’re hurting, at this point, are themselves. Perhaps less fortunately, some of them have been promoted to high office and are now in a position to inflict a whole world of hurt on the kafirs. I’m sure you’ll be clapping and cheering from the sidelines when they unleash whatever hellscape they’ve got lined up for us next.
“Rent free” gave me quite a chuckle. Do you have any idea how many covid-related court and tribunal cases are still pending? The fallout is next level and shows no real sign of stopping. As long as that’s true, lawyers get to keep charging fees, of course. (Thus paying way more than just the rent.)

There are any number of campaigns going on for “fundraising” in order to haul this or that organisation into court over their COVID mandates or some other wrongdoing. While I agree that this is the right way for a civilized society to deal with governmental failures (as opposed to, say, setting cars on fire or looting businesses), I can’t help wondering (a) how much of it is likely to be successful and (b) how much of it is likely to be successful only from the lawyers’ point of view.
We also need a more appropriate mechanism for dealing with broad and deep corruption of vital institutions, because the Law is simultaneously a very blunt instrument, and not blunt enough. The video is well worth watching, because although it was an “everybody loses except the lawyers” scenario, the upshot of it was that simply saying no was the key to getting the fanatics off Jensen’s back. The Lawyer’s approach was simply to point out - hopefully rather forcefully - that the medical board had massively overstepped their remit and there was no case to answer. That’s what needs to happen with the Great Reset nonsense, and indeed is happening in many places. Want to create a 15 minute city, or set up a ULEZ zone? Fine, but we’re going to sabotage your bollards and cameras. Waste of everybody’s time and money, and not very civilized, but it gets the job done. Six months later, maybe the courts will get around to ruling that the whole thing was unlawful anyway.
It’ll be a stupid, pointless war of attrition, and it will ultimately boil down to who runs out of pigheadedness first, but there’s enough pushback this time around to (possibly) prevent another pandemic of bureaucrats. It’d be nice if there were a better way of doing it.
Force indoctrination has now come to the Canada
JP has done a reaction interview (with his daughter). He gets a bit shouty - I think he can be forgiven for that - and he probably needs to be re-educated for his fashion sense, but it’s well worth watching. He can be prone to rambling, but in this instance he’s gone back to his more appealing (older) style, compressing quite a lot of meaning into relatively brief sentences.

I think the whole thing is just unutterably depressing. At the end of the day the whole episode is a huge, steaming pile of bullshit; a waste of everybody’s time and money in a world where professionals, judges, and even the ordinary person in the street should be getting on with the ordinary business of life, making things slightly better in the mundane day-to-day ways that we’re all capable of, instead of being forced to defend their opinions or fight for the most basic rights.
I vacillate between despair - the feeling that Western Civilisation is doomed because so many of its institutions have been captured by midwits and ideologues - and hope that just possibly, there are enough people like JP who refuse to bend the knee, or at least use their enforced struggle sessions to ridicule the self-appointed intelligentsia and perhaps bring them down.
The 20th Century saw enough of this nonsense. I really, really hope we’re not going to do it all again.
On a very similar theme - this doesn’t really fit here, but it doesn’t fit anywhere else either - the avant-garde playright and social commentator C.J.Hopkins has just been sentenced by a German court for … well, it’s a bit hard to tell, but ostensibly for being a neo-Nazi. Anyone who has read his essays knows how completely insane this is - he leans heavily left and is a persistent critic of anything that looks vaguely like Fascism. But that’s the world we live in. He must either serve 60 days in jail or pay a 3600 euro fine.
My point in posting this here is that “it” - whatever this madness is - is going global, and the courts are on-board with it all. It starts off with harassing grannies in the street for walking their dogs, proceeds to people being hauled into court for speaking truth to power, until eventually the masses are ready to accept razor wire and cattle-cars.
EDIT: the backlash begins already. Here’s Gad Saad (Lebanese-Canadian polymath) taking the royal piss out of the midwits running the CPO. We need more of these genuinely smart people piling in to ensure everyone can see these clowns for what they are. People have tried reasoning with them, talking nicely to them, and it simply doesn’t work. They are not acting in good faith, they do not have benign intent, and in the absence of any legal constraints on their narcissism and social vandalism, one of the few civilized alternatives we have left is to generate public disgust for them and their ideas.
