Average means nothing. Median regular wage in July was NT$39,629

Seems like the difference mostly comes from bonuses and overtime:

According to statistics from the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, the average regular salary of all employees in July was NT$49,491, an increase of 3.32% year-on-year; non-regular salaries such as bonuses and overtime pay amounted to NT$21,674, bringing the total average salary to NT$71,165, an increase of 8.25% year-on-year.

Quite some news articles about record bonuses at some companies:

Since 2023, TSMC’s employee bonuses have grown at an annual rate of 30 percent or more and as long as employee performance stays strong, annual bonuses for this year are expected to grow at a similar pace, the source quoted Wei as saying.

Under Micron’s compensation program, employees in Taiwan will receive at least NT$1.7 million (US$53,628) in cash compensation for fiscal 2026, with entry-level engineers expected to receive an average of NT$2.9 million in total compensation, including stock rewards. Average total compensation is expected to reach NT$3.4 million.

Those will definitely push average salary (including bonus) by a lot.

Wage gap is big in taiwan and i am sure other countries too , so average salary means nothing but a number government flaunts around to show how well people are doing here. One tsmc worker can skew the data of the salaries of 90% everyday “normal” workers here.

Even my Filipino wife was earning more than that when we were in Taiwan.

On average, people won’t earn more than that though.

Well, at least not in reported income

A huge chunk of Taiwanese pay is variable, so wage is not a good measure.

Why do they only report wages in median and salaries only in mean so you have apples and oranges? That’s so annoying.
