Yeah horse racing was much bigger back then. There was a feature article about him in the big US sports magazine Sports Illustrated as late as 1981. I only saw him at the tail end of his career, but he was always talked about. Mike Lachance was one of the top drivers in that day.

I was really getting in to them just over a year ago. Got excited imagining I’d get a chance to see go see them since the company I was starting with has a base in Alabama only to find out he’d just gotten cancer
