I spent the day in Hsinchu City, enjoying some lovely breezy sunny weather—and yes I know this is techinically outside the geographical bounds of the topic of this thread, but I didn’t know where else to share this. Mods: feel free to move if desired.
As I rode a youbike around the old city center, I spotted something new: a Starbucks has opened in the old Shinchiku Prefecture Library Building (新竹州圖書館; built in 1925)—and wow is it a beauty! Located steps from the old East Gate (the focal point of Hsinchu City’s downtown), and not far from TRA’s historic Hsinchu Station, this shop is a worthy contender for the most beautiful around, especially for those who value the repurposed use of Taiwan’s colonial architecture.
