The Most Beautiful Coffee Shop in Taipei

I went to this Starbucks once. Funny story. It was during chinese new year. My sister in law really likes nice coffee shops and convinced my wife and me to go with her.
It looked really comfortable. I said to sister in law: I thought you didnt like Starbucks coffee? She said she doesn’t.
So we were sitting there drinking a coffee that none of us three likes. facepalm

You can’t have your coffee and drink it too. Beautiful coffee shops are usually just that, good-looking shops that serve watered down coffee. Hard to have best of both worlds. Fika Fika and Rufous are two shops in Taipei that serve great coffee in a nice atmosphere.

Rufous coffee is really good

Can I cheat and say my entry is a coffee shop/bike shop?

Down the street from Stinky Tofu Shenkeng Old Street, it’s a nice spot to stop by on your way to Yilan or if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the old street. They have seating in the back, not just the high chairs out front.

Damn that is some beauty amidst all the world’s chaos and pain.

I might need some of that soon.

I found one in a corner that I liked. Actually I’ve seen a few that look like old european coffee shops. I don’t like the prices and I don’t need coffee so I don’t usually go to any, but…

I just got coffee there on Sunday. It was passable, but very reasonably priced.

I’ve been there many times and the others around there too. Nice atmosphere when not crowded.

Nice relaxing walk around the old canals up there too, by the way.

Here’s one I’ve come to really like: Mountain Kids Coffee Roaster (山小孩咖啡), located right next to Taipei City’s wonderful North Gate (i.e. Beimen). It also happens to be near the tax bureau on Zhonghua Road, so if you’re stopping by in the next while, Mountain Kids could help take some of the pain away from forking over any balance due on your tax payments!

So far, I’ve tried their cappuccino and on another visit an ice latte—both were excellent. If you get the coffee to go (outdoor seating available, or just have a seat next to North Gate), the price point is reasonable (90-100 NTD), especially for the quality of the drinks served. Tasty coffee, great staff attitude, and some of the best city views in Taipei. Recommended! : D
