The Not So Crowded Presidential 2024 Election Thread

I don’t see that it ever stopped.

People were saying he faked it or planned it a la WWE from the moment the story broke.

Hopefully, they’ll attack his policies and his platform which will be known better in the next few days.

There wasn’t even a pause…

The Republican convention is this week, we’ll be back to normal by then I think. But it remains to be seen what the new normal will be, for both sides (politicians anyway and not batshit loonies skulking around the Internet). There might be a price to pay for extremism at this point, so it should be interesting.

It has not stopped. After the attempted assassination an new Trump Hitler picture was already put out by Trump hating media.

AOC’s not buying it.

Fascism eh. Who’ll get shot next, I wonder?

I think what generally seems to be the problem nowadays is that too much focus is put on distractions like this.

What really everyone should be focusing on is the policies of the two options and their track records.

Both have been president. Should not be too difficult to compare how many pre-election promises they have kept and how, for each voter individually, life has become better or worse. After having done that kind of evaluation, everyone should compare the promises they make now and how likely it is that life will improve or worsen after the next election, depending on who is the next president.

For me personally, a non-American living in Taiwan, I don’t think I have felt much difference in my life because of who was president in the US during the last 7 years or so. So it’s all more academic and speculative regarding what could happen in the next four years.

The big issue of course is what is going to happen with Nato-Ukraine-Russia-China, which depending on the policies by those two parties, could or could not result in turmoil in Taiwan.

Well I for one don’t feel all that united. Wasn’t that joes big thing?

Well, what did Biden do or not do to unite/divide the people?
Is Trump going to unite or divide the people if he gets another shot at it?

Too soon

I’m going with the low hanging fruit: demonizing the tens of millions of people who voted for Trump, and creating a state of never ending panic that DEMOCRACY was at risk and this one orange guy was the biggest threat to DEMOCRACY.

I don’t like people who think in all caps.

So, the Biden question I can answer, as it has already happened. The Trump question is future tense kind of thing, so how could I possibly know? He wasn’t very good at it last time.

Well, did he divide or unite the country during his presidency? Did you feel more united during those four years? Well, maybe he did not promise that before he was elected.

I would certainly not base my voting decision on who is going to unite the country more. I’d probably vote for the guy who is going to make education and health care more affordable, etc.

He never ran on that.

I felt fine, then again, I voted for him and voila the stock market shot upward and for a brief moment, warrish nations seemed to calm the f down.

Nor would I. So Biden and his BS are out, just for that reason alone.

OK. We all have a thing.

The Trump campaign and surrogates will try to intimidate Biden supporters from going after the former President politically. Do not let up. Trump is a threat to democracy and he must be stopped. Every rational person knows that means politically. DO NOT let them twist your words and intimidate you. Trump must be beaten at the ballot box

Red wave expected

Trump is divisive, but it should be noted that the Democrats have been dividing America for years now, and then relying on those defeated to be good sports about it. It’s called identity politics, and Joe Biden is one of their happy warriors.

You can’t divide the American electorate along racial (and now gender) lines forever and not expect to produce a divided nation.

Will be a Trump-JD Vance ticket.

I think Vance is a good choice. He’s not yet 40 (young), he’s a former Marine, he’s very well spoken, and currently a US Senator (Ohio).

Crucially important, I think, is that Vance has experience in the private sector. A key attribute, imo.

That’s the rumor. Has there been anything definitive?

Announced by Trump on social media.
