The Plane Crash Thread

So nothing new

Oh shit. Another Korean airline.

Well done to the crew who evacuated the plane without casualties reported.

Seems all off the aeroplane, but its a big fire

Glad it was still on the ground and everyone got out

Wonder if it’s lithium battery related

Damn. The pics were bad. WTH?!

This awful incident is also being discussed here:

Guy

Lots of aeroplane crashes this week

from link:
“A US Army official confirmed to the BBC’s US news partner CBS that an Army helicopter was involved in the incident.”

I’m thinking all dead . Plane in pieces and hitting water in the dark. Will be a miracle if anyone survived that

Heli was on training flight . The training went wrong obviously

Probably shouldn’t be training close to civilian airports

Looks like the heli crashed into the jet as both came in to land from the video and the civilian jet exploded in a huge fireball

Sorry to say this is likely unsurvivable

There’s been some real close calls at US airports recently and it’s a matter of time when they do collide and horribly a collision occurred

The water temp is near zero c and wind gusts 35mph

Passengers would not have any life vests on because it was not a planned emergency landing

News said they are starting to pull people out of the water but all have been dead so far

None so far pulled out alive

Due to temp they said a person floating and alive have less than 20 minutes to survive in that water temp

By this time no one is expected to be pulled alive

Yes, too many close calls of late. But a mid air collision is a biggie.

Night training exercise?! Over civilian airspace?!

Yes, falling into freezing waters makes things complicated.

So far, rescue teams have been in the water about two hours. There is talk of fatalities, no survivors yet.

18 bodies pulled so far airport is closed until Friday

Sixty passengers and 4 crew and three crew on the heli apparently

Air Busan fire likely from a lithium power pack

Which is why the airlines insist passengers should carry any lithium battery operated whatchamacallits in their carry on, not in check in luggage. At least on board you can see the fire and do something, but in the hold…

But if this happened in the air it is also a bad thing
Lithium batteries should be restricted to that in your ffone and notebook I guess
No power banks

Of course In the hold it likely will be a catastrophe

Certain size and type of external batteries are restricted. But they cannot be banned altogether, unless like in Taiwan mobile luggage is forbidden because of this.

Back to the current tragedy:

Taiwan tv channel already has a reporter on the ground in D.C.
