The Stink of Obama’s Netflix Deal

So I was putting together a book shelf tonight

And had NF on for background noise. Some movie with some guy, Ethan Hawk maybe? And the pretty woman chick.

I noticed it was “produced” or some bs by both B and M Obama. Then I recalled their NF deal, 50million clams and then I recalled the house they bought and then the article I read about how truly corrupt the deal was. Then I thought I’d share.

Enjoy the slime.

I have a sneaking suspicion the Obamas’ movies and shows will suck, but regardless, I’m sure they will seek to cement Barack’s fictitious legacy as a decent man who tried his hardest to do the right thing with the tools he had. Most presidents try to do this through memoirs or charity work, but Obama is expanding into Hollywood, hoping to define his post-presidency by attaching himself to artistic work with more moral value than he himself has ever held. Whatever movies and shows come from the deal will comport with the brand, not the man. No documentaries about all the families he murdered in illegal drone strikes. No dramas about the immigrants persecuted by his regime. No interviews with Chelsea Manning, who is back in prison for refusing to testify in a secret court intended to obliterate the rights of whistleblowers.

Btw, I turned the movie off. It stunk. Just a Jordan Peele rip off from the feel I got. Damn white people in ma house? It’s a bnb. Get out. You get out. We don’t trust you. We don’t trust YOu.

Snaaaa- ooooser.

Thoughts?

You get that bookshelf from IKEA? How much?

It’s just like an inconvenient truth.

Truth is all politicians are corrupt. It’s impossible to make it as a politician without corruption, because elected official gets very little money for their work, and the nature of democracies seem to be based on popularity than competency. Honest, non-graft taking politicians will only be county level at MOST.

Politics is where conscience goes to die.

agree that’s pretty skeezy. he’s also young(er) relative to other presidents and more contemporary. also i believe he’s written a couple memoirs as has his wife, and they have charities.

i don’t think there is anything special about the netflix deal, typical political bs.

how much was the shelf?

What is this drivel you posted. Terrible writing. The first negative link you could find about Obama?

The documentary American Factory was good but I’m sure you won’t like it because…Obama!

If there is one politician of a progressive nature I admire, it is:

José Mujica - Wikipedia

Mujica has drawn worldwide attention for his simple lifestyle.[2][53][54][55][56][57] He has used a 1987 Volkswagen Beetle and his 60-year-old bicycle as means of transportation.[58] In 2010, the value of the car was $1,800 and represented the entirety of the mandatory annual personal wealth declaration filed by Mujica for that year. In November 2014, the Uruguayan newspaper Búsqueda reported that he had been offered 1 million dollars for the car; he said that if he did get 1 million dollars for the car, it would be donated to house the homeless through a program that he supports.[59]

it was written by a leftist tho. more left than me i’d say. i agree with the jist, but it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t hold your own team up to the same standards.

i think @jdsmith was just havin one  :beers:

Pulled the plug on Netflix in 2021. Pretty obviously trending woke.

Last straw was I Care A Lot, wherein a Russian mobster was sold to the viewer as 100% ruthless, with a double side of crazy, and who nevertheless (meekly) chooses to partner with a female who double-crosses him rather than behaving like the character he was shown to be and making her a bloody reason not to cross him. Because you know, female badass. I felt like Ralphy in the Ovaltine scene of Christmas Story, just another crummy commercial.

Wouldn’t doubt that all of Obama’s productions have similar lessons imbedded in them as well. All in an effort to mainstream their identity politics.

Netflix: I want entertainment, not identity wedges camouflaged as entertainment.

That’ll teach 'em! Just like teaching those socialists by paying for healthcare out of pocket.

Yup. Looks like Mr someone didn’t read it.

Correction: Hollywood: I want entertainment, not remakes of remakes of really old shit, with identity politics thrown into said old shit.

Yeah all of Hollywoo is guilty. Not unlike being served a shit sandwich. Tasty-looking from the outside, which makes the shit inside all the worse when you spend an hour biting in.

I’ll have to check. They usually get book deals and a library. Not a blank check to the crowd control industry. This wasn’t Oprah writing a check for a charity. It’s was a generational wealth deposited into a private personal bank account.

The Obamas said Monday that they want to harness “the power of storytelling” to promote common values.

“We hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world,” Barack Obama said in a statement.

“Netflix’s unparalleled service is a natural fit for the kinds of stories we want to share, and we look forward to starting this exciting new partnership,” Michelle Obama added.

And from the mouth of CNN’s very own Jen Psaki, this absolutely frightening glimpse into reality:

Jen Psaki, the White House communications director at the time, told CNN that “he is very interested in how people consume information and the changing trends,” citing online and mobile news consumption.

I bet he is.

Using the word extremely 10 times is exactly why I stopped reading. This garbage should be beneath you. Or do you just tell everyone you read Cicero when really you watching TMZ?

My guess is you googled “Obama bad” and posted the first thing that came up.

Here’s the wiki list of what Higher Ground has done:

I’ve seen some of the National Parks ones and was bored to tears. Sounded like a Taiwanese tour bus, waaa pretty.

I watched Crip Camp which was astounding. The ADA struck a chord with me as my mom was in a chair for the majority of my life until she died. The marginalization of disabled people was just so bad before it was enacted.

The movie I switched off last night was

A lot of kids shows which isn’t surprising. Get them while they’re young.

Anyone else seen any of the HG stuff? Care to opine about it?

Making kids shows…so evil.

Yeah like I mentioned American Factory is good. It’s a documentary about a Chinese factory that sets up in the US and the clash between the American workers and the Chinese management. They think the Americans are all lazy and bitch too much.

Watching American Factory now.

For all you conspiracy buffs: The Chinese bought Ohio plant was opened in 10/7. :runaway:

So, non union. The Chairman is Chinese nationalist crazy. His speech to the Chinese people is insane.

Not as crazy as it turns out as singing the company song in China which is centered around transparency.

It’s called American Factory.

I’ve found Hollywood has increasingly turned to formulas, meaning they find something (like say MCU) and just latch onto that and not much else. Except MCU is based on comics that came out way back in the 50s. It’s not for a lack of new content too, it’s just that Hollywood is only latching onto stuff that baby boomers and perhaps Gen X/Y/Z read in their teenage years, and is refusing to explore new territories that Americans are known for.

Inception, and Interstellar was the last good movies that came out in the 2010s. I don’t recall anything good coming out in the last 5-10 years. It’s all MCU based stuff. It’s gotten so bad I refuse to even look at movies anymore, they’ve gone stale. It’s either Transformers, MCU, Fast and the Furious (seriously how many more sequels of the stuff are they going to make), some stupid rom-coms, etc… Nothing new is even coming out of Disney anymore.

When in the 80s and 90s they were putting out some great movies like Jurassic Park (and even Hollywood is milking the crap out of that too). Seriously, Michael Crichton is a great writer and they should look into making his later work (Prey and Micro comes to mind) into movies.

Hollywood is starting to look like Bollywood basically.
