The Unsightly State of Minnesota

Too much going on now to really comprehend the scope of the fraud in Tim Walz’s state, but we might as well start with a comparison.

A Tale of Two Medicaid States: Minnesota Fraud vs. Indiana Reform - WSJ

>The Justice Department charged six new defendants in schemes to defraud Minnesota’s Medicaid program. “What we see in Minnesota is not a handful of bad actors committing crimes. It’s a staggering industrial-scale fraud,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson said.

>The Justice Department also unsealed a search warrant for a home healthcare business, which it said billed Medicaid for services for multiple individuals that weren’t provided. One individual with severe mental illness who was receiving services, according to state records, had been found dead in his apartment.Justice says the home-care program “has been vulnerable to fraud,” as providers can bill the state for providing care up to 24 hours a day. Minnesota Medicaid spending on this in-home program surged to $170 million in 2024 from $4.6 million in 2021, which tracks a similar increase in spending on housing services. The state’s Medicaid spending has increased by nearly two-thirds in six years. Mr. Walz says his administration has begun to inspect Medicaid claims more closely. But because the feds pick up most of the Medicaid tab, Minnesota and other states have less incentive to identify fraud and waste.

Speaking of fraud and waste:

This amateur investigative guy has broken part of the story, the Somalia scammers.

Minnesota is ridiculous. Local media also refuse to report honestly on Ilhan Omar, using the excuse that any negative news about her forms irresponsible support (I guess) for racism and anti-Somalia sentiment. Amazing to watch media there choose the side of a (likely) corrupt politician over Minnesota constituents. That’s upside-down world in news reporting.

If the shoe were on the other foot, and if Walz were Trump and Omar were, say, Kristi Noem, the pendulum would swing the opposite way. In those cases the media in Minnesota would be publishing content 24/7/365, likely including publishing many of the ubiquitous “experts say” news style used for years against Trump. In that case they’d be making noises about taking the side of Minnesota voters over corrupt politicians.

Has Ilhan Omar ever had a “experts say” story published in Minnesota, one that casts doubt on her? I doubt it.

Minnesota is unsightly, you betcha.

Honestly, I thought it was overblown. But seeing an entire building with just fraudulent businesses of the same type is concerning. I think it’s going to get more and more ridiculous.

How many members of Congress get such reporting? Very few, only if they actually are corrupt. Omar gets LOADS of negative attention, I presume because she’s progressive Moslem and brown, with all kinds of insinuations, but all for naught. She’s obviously not corrupt. As a progressive she doesn’t take corporate PAC money or much PAC money at all, and she wants to ban stock trading for members. She’s a choir girl. YAWN! Give it up already.

Almost certainly she was corrupt her first two terms, and given the softball treatment she gets in Minneapolis she probably could be still. No doubt the local news would bury it for her.

So, that little expose has led DHS to come sniff around.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on the defensive over Somali aid scheme | New York Post

>Federal investigators say half of the $18 billion granted to Minnesota since 2018 could have been stolen by fraudulent schemes — amounting to up to $9 billion in theft. As of Saturday evening, 86 people have been charged in relation to these fraud scams, with 59 convicted so far. Most of those accused of fraud come from Minnesota’s Somali community.

Tourism Fraud I think they’re calling it.

That’s a cheap shot, isn’t it? Maybe she gets negative attention because she says and does things people don’t agree with, like her obvious antisemitism. She has had a lot of contact with the groups that siphoned money from Walz’s State and Federal coffers; there are some horrendous videos of her speaking to her constituents in Somali about how she is in power in Minnesota to help Somalis back home in Somalia. I didn’t like it when the Kennedys pulled that shit with Ireland and the IRA, and I don’t like it now.

Nah, nothing to see here. Just a duck walking like a duck. Just good ole entrepreneurism, right? I’d say it’s worth a look see audit.

Paraphrasing, but she said in a speech to her Somali constituents that her reelection means that Somalis are in power in Congress now, not the US, and now the US must recognize that Somalia now shares power with the US government. Disgusting.

Reason 235,490,583 that Ilhan Omar needs to find another job.

It’s Not “Racist” to Notice Somali Fraud

Of course not.

It’s almost like some people care more about putting a target on some communities instead of actually caring about fraud. Fraud against govt programs isn’t exactly state or community specific.

All identified fraud should be prosecuted, but I wish there would be less sensationalist focus on fraud by individuals, even large groups of individuals, then by large supposedly legit organizations, because the latter gets a bullshit cost of business fine and continue on, and oftentimes perpetuate fraud at much greater levels.

And I’m sure you believe that. Keep reading them headlines!

Ah, screw the headlines. Use your brain

and set aside your bias.

I don’t even really like her except a few limited points. On the other hand your bias is screaming off the page here. Constant carping on this one random congresswoman. It’s annoying; that’s the only reason I said anything.

It’s not Medicare fraud. It’s undocumented Medicare payments.
