There should be a movie about K.T. Li (李國鼎)

I saw Oppenheimer on my flights to and back. It was great, although a bit too fast-paced. I watched it twice and turned the subtitles on the second time, because it’s loud one plane.

It made me think the K.T. Li story would make a great movie line.

China was picked apart by Japan and Western powers. Li came from a family that loved traditional culture but believes China fell behind because science was underdeveloped.

He goes to Cambridge to study physics under Lord Rutherford, the originator of radioactive decay models. When Japan attacked China, he cut his studies short to return to China.

He then flees to Taiwan and created UMC, TSMC, and became the architect of Taiwan’s IT sector.

That’s a great plot.
