This Week’s WTF Story Award Goes to… (2024 edition)

This is the real WTF:
“He has been released without bail until his next court date on 17 June.”

Does anybody know what are all these YouTubes and TikToks that have suddenly popped up of Japanese cosplayers (teenage girls in short skirts dep’t) doing frenetic 5 second dances outside, usually to an audience who look like they’re judging i.e. looks like the whole thing is organised? Just came out in the last few days- new fad in Japan?

Tragically in Mexico running for elected office remains a dangerous undertaking. In the 2024 election season, some 37 candidates have reportedly been assassinated.

So . . . if you were the UK Ambassador to Mexico, what would you do? Would you have selected “brandish a rifle and point it at a local staff at the embassy while laughing and making sure it’s all on video”? If so, you too could be a nominee for this week’s WTF story award.

My nominee for this week: this story featuring a man named Nick Naydev, a man who thought jumping from the 11th story of a cruise ship into the ocean was a good idea.

A takeaway quote: “I just jumped and didn’t really think it through.”

Goodness, really? I would never have guessed.

Where do you even buy floppy discs these days?

You can take away my floppy disks, but please don’t take away my fax machine!

Guy

People still make them, believe it or not (although they ain’t cheap). I had occasion to buy some a few months ago because I was reconditioning an old Amiga500 and needed to put some games onto floppies.

Was that in the settlement that was recently purpose-built for American/western conservatives?

No way that’s true.

It’s extremely rare, but it is biologically possible.

How? The melanin is a dominant phenotype, i.e. gene for dark skin is dominant. If neither one of the parents have this gene, there’s no way the kid would have it.

Grand Hyatt Erawan

Holy crap.

Are they sure it is his leg?

If the shoe fits.

Is that the one where they built the shrine to overcome the curse because a construction worker died or something?

Very strange story. She was lucky to be found.
