Those of you who have been to Japan

Hey, I know this has been asked before, but,if you do a serach, there aint any answers (wirthwhile) for it.
So, for those of you who have been to Japan, whats better?
Japan or Taiwan?

Why do you keep asking the same question?

Free Tip: To increase the odds of getting a lot of replies, try to write a quality first post. That means making sure it is not full of English mistakes, that its meaning is clear, and you give some info about yourself.

I doubt there are many forumosans who have lived in both Japan and Taiwan. Your best bet is to go to Dave’s ESL Cafe and have a look at the forums for Japan. There are tons of posts there. http://www.eslcafe.com/

That’s telling him Almas…

Actually, I never found folks on Dave’s ESL Cafe to be very insightful. The vast majority of posters there are a pack of whinging whiners. If I had read that site before coming to Taiwan, I would never have got on the plane.
That being said, they’ll certainly paint the bleakest picture for you and on arrival you’ll surely not be dissappointed.

I’ve lived in both. 3 years in each!

My answer: both!

Dear vallillo1983,

What kind of question are you asking, do you know how ridiculous you sound?

You will base your own decision on what strangers say on this forum? Cuz I don’t think you REALLY did a search: forumosa.com/taiwan/viewtopi … c&&start=0

Heck, that link doesn’t stop at Japan. You can compare every other country to Taiwan if you please.

I usually can’t stand it when Oldies tell Newbies to do a search when it’s their first, second, or even third post. But you take the cake.

Shit, I can’t believe I’m the Oldie now. It’s all your fault, fakkin n00b. :smiling_imp:

Love,

I’m not really sure why this is in this forum, should be in Travel I would think. You think?

What exactly do you want to know? Is what better than what in regards to what? Traveling, living, teaching, etc etc ect?

I have been to both, lived in both and can say that there are worlds of differences. Japan is, by far, more expensive. Getting a teaching job in Japan teaching English is harder than Taiwan. Japan keeps a very close eye on its foreign teachers. Japan is a more developed country than Taiwan…living comforts are similar to US standards.

Taiwan gives you a more relaxed atmosphere with a bit more of an edge. Japan is beautiful, so is Taiwan…each have their down sides. Japan has more national pride and it is reflected in the overall cleanliness. Their tourist destinations in Japan are more dramatic and worthwhile, in my opinion. Weather is very different too. Depending on where you are in Japan, you will have snow, hot summers, beautiful springs, and rainy autumns.

It all boils down to what you are looking for, how much money you have stashed away and are willing to part with. Good luck, whatever you decide.
