It’s the same around Kaoshiung port, but they just put them on the roofs or in the stock yards to dry.

How long before a total ban? A decade? 60 - 80 years is the estimate for extinction at the going rate.
Here is a shark I saw in Carrefour last year:
They can’t ban it. Shark fins, bear bile, ivory etc are important for warding off evil sprits, or impotence, or, like, summit. Chinese civilisation will collapse without them.
The only hope for species on the brink of extinction (most of which are being bought by the Chinese) is that China stops paying so much attention to (a) face, and showing off how f’ing rich they are to afford endangered species to put on the dinner table and (b) superstition.
Guess we’d better set up a few more gene banks.
Actually, I don’t really have a problem with people eating anything they like, as long as they leave some for the rest of us, and don’t bugger up the planet in the process … and as long as they DO actually bloody eat it, instead of throwing 99% of it back in the sea.
At least they put the shark to good use. Who’d have thought that they make excellent orange squeezers, eh?
