Hey guys, I’m new here but need some help, whats the fastest yet cost efficient way to get to Taoyuan airport from Taipei main station/the Taipei area? Do buses/shuttles run 24 hours a day? Where do I go to catch a bus to the airport? Thanks for any help

It is the cheapest way, you could also take HSR and from the HSR station a taxi or the free shuttle bus to reach the airport, but if you are not in a hurry, I would take the bus, it’s cheap and convenient… just a bit slow
thank you, im looking at the evergreen bus…will the buses let you on at one of the listed MRT stops when you would get off? where would i buy a ticket to get on the evergreen bus? sorry, im just nervous of getting lost!
well usually you go to one of the mrt stops and at the exit, there is a big yellow map that shows which bus is stopping where. The easiest way is go to Taipei Main Bus Station (Kukuan or Kingbus), to Taipei City Hall Bus Station or to the new Bus Station next to QSquare, both have all bus companies. Check this pictures:

you see under the digital clock on the left side is such a map and under the map it tells you where the bus stops are… sorry I can’t explain it better… 
its ok, you’ve been a lot of help! i have to pick someone up who lands at midnight, which means i wont be able to take the bus on the way back…how much would a taxi cost from the airport to taipei? sorry im asking so many questions, dont want the taxi driver to see im a foreigner and try to rip me off!
last time I took a cab from Taipei Main Station to Taoyuan was in 2009 and it cost around 1200NT + the 40 dollar for the TOLL. I suppose prices are the same. Oh yes, I negotiated that with the driver, so no meter was running

A good option to go to the airport is taking the High Speed Train from Taipei Main and then transfer to their shuttle to the airport. Faster and less risk from getting struck in traffic -yes, at that hour.
Coming back, well, bus is OK if you do not have a lot of luggage, but taxi is better for confort. Private limo service charge about 1000nts -they are competing against taxis, so they are cheaper.

Do you have any idea how long this trip takes? I need to get to Taoyuan airport somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00 in the morning. Assuming I take the 6:36 from Zuoying and arrive at 8:14 in Taoyuan, will I make it on time?

Worst comes to worst if you are that pressed for time you can just take a cab from outside the HSR station to the airport. It can’t be that expensive.
i just read that the shuttle will cost 30NT, is there the 50NT airport fee plus the taxi fare to pay?

Thanks for the shuttle schedule. I asked around and it seems like the trip takes twenty to thirty minutes depending on the traffic. It might just be a safer bet to arrive the night before and stay in a hotel.
so in my case, im going to take the bus to the airport…thinking the evergreen bus from shuanglian MRT…arrive at the airport around 11:30pm…but then on the way back…is taxi my only option since i wont be out of there until at least 1am?
Take the Guoguang bus from Xingtian Temple. It’s perhaps the fastest bus to the airport.
(The bus starts at Songshan Airport, then drives through the city to Xingtian Temple. From there, it gets right on the highway and goes straight to the airport.)

Yes, yes and no. It is a big tourist bus, easy to spot. Notice that going TO the airport you wait for it on the Songshan Road side of teh temple, NOT the Minchuan. 松山機場、行天宮(松江路上)、桃園機場
Mm, looks like your best bet. Maybe the one at 1:30am?

icon, thanks so much for your help. the 1:30 bus that departs from taoyuan airport…its the one that goes between taipei railway station correct? where would this bus drop my off?
also, would i get on the 1:30 bus at the same place where i get dropped off? do you know where and what terminal that would be? im so sorry for asking so many questions…its my first time and im nervous!
If I am not mistaken, That would be the Kuoguan hao station, the one at the corner of Zhongxin and Zhongxiao Westt Road. So you would be outside the Main Station area.
As to wher eyou take the bus from the airport, that’s a bit harder, as they recently moved the stuff around. And the link doe snot say if it is only from terminal 1 or 2. My logic would say it would be at the same place you buy bus tickets, as it has always been, but don’t quote me on that…
