I think when Cruise converted to scientology, he also gave up whatever drugs were keeping him sane and docile. Since he’s become so active in the cult…er, religion, he’s been showing very manic and aggressive behaviors.
It would explain his firm stance that psychiatry is a joke, the drugs don’t do anything positive, and that all a person needs is exercise and vitamins. It also explains his sudden change in personality. I think one of the elders have counselled him to give up his lithium carbonate and take advantage of his energetic behaviors as passion rather than what it truly is…psychosis.
He is staring right into the face of Michael Jackson Syndrome (MJS)…the condition where a well-like celebrity allows his eccentricities to go unchecked and causes him to become nothing more than a laughingstock to the public and poison to anyone who tries to promote or produce his efforts.
I seriously hope that if he really is determined to follow L. Ron Hubbard’s cult, that he eschew their beliefs on psychiatric drugs before it’s too late for him (and for Katie who will undoubtably dump him soon if he continues in this vein).
I predict a nervous breakdown, hospitalization (the straitjacket kind, not the ambulance kind), a very public break-up with Katie Holmes (most likely via gossip media), and/or a disappearance from the Hollywood radar within the next six months unless he changes.
He does seem to be suffering some sort of breakdown so I’d rather not laugh at him. If I had him alone for five minutes though I’d try and clue him into where his grandiosity is leading him. Somehow I get the feeling that hasn’t been tried yet.
In speaking with someone who is well versed in physciology(sp), he meantioned that generally people who are ADD in their childhood tend to go on and become Bipolar. I am certain that my friend wasn’t saying this is the rule for all, but that studies have show that this is a strong prevelance. I think that Tom is Bipolar, given the traits he’s shown…Hopefully someone will step in before it’s too late, because he does have talent and a career worthsaving.

I don’t know if Cruise is manic depressive, aka bi-polar, because I sense that we will never get to see his depressive side, but the way he is acting now definitely screams manic and it’s only a matter of time before he wears his body out and goes into a depressive state.
He’s not high on life or love…he’s overproducing adrenaline.
I had a doctor say the same thing about me once. Too much stimulation, too much anxiety, too much change will do that to you. When I look at Tom Cruise the only thing I can think is - poor fucker.
Being manic aint such a bad thing (at least I don’t think so). Seems like he’s having a good time.

Tom Cruise is just a none too bright guy whose looks, enthusiasm and natural acting talent put him in a position where his each and every narcassisitc impulse would be stroked to the max. A victim of the star making machine. Eventually his rage or his grandiosity will push him one step too far and the world will have an opportunity to engage in it’s second favorite sport.
Having a good time and having an manic episode are two different things. Generally IMO having a good time, includes everyone around you and you don’t have to/want to be the center of attention. With mania, you aren’t nessarily the center of attention by choice. Your imbalance is causing you to create the attention which can create havoc if not kept in check. Tom is on his way to doing it to his career, and probably other parts of his life that aren’t public.
