It looks like Yu Bor-chuan is not going to be keeping his low-level post at Academia Sinica. Given that he’s not much of a scholar, this probably doesn’t have much to do with Tongyong. But it should be interesting to see how this plays out.
I would guess that it does have to do with Tongyong. AS is deeply blue. I’m confident that this is emtirely political. Given that the DPP/TSU are playing hard ball at the Ministry of Education with romanization issues, it seems fair enough.
