Top 10 things about living in Taiwan pro and cons

I wonder if @gain actually doesn’t know about the rampant drug use in Taiwan, or is just trying to downplay it.

Cough medicine sold in pharmacies. The little brown bottle has codine and the little yellow bottle has morphine.

The cold and flu tablets and powders have ephedrine.

Back in the day when I still used to go clubbing, it was rampant and not even hidden. I couple of places I went to, people were chopping lines of meth and ketamine on the tables, in full view of everyone. You just had to walk onto the dancefloor and ask a random stranger “Where can I get some E?” and they’d reply “How many do you need?”
This purposeful naivete is ridiculous.

Food and drugs what else is there to talk about in a pandemic?

Italian, Chinese, Indian and you guessed it poor little old Mexico are consistently ranked as the most popular foods in the world for travelers.

Local food is good but can get old quick. There’s variety but a lot of weird stuff too. Seems the more expensive a Taiwanese meal gets the worse it is. Cheap noodles and dumplings or a good kuaichao is all I need.

My wife keeps bragging about all the delicious food she’ll eat back in the US. Luckily I have found some good places here - quite fond of the Diner.

These things aren’t that restricted in most other countries either. Perhaps in the US and West Europe they restrict (but not ban) these things because of meth heads buying ephedrine tablets by the ton to make meth. However chemicals and materials needed to make meth in Taiwan aren’t that restricted as they have legitimate uses. But the penalty for making meth in Taiwan is very harsh, like more than 20 years and all that as it’s a class 1 drug. Not to mention it’s so rare that when it is caught they are major news. On the other hand stuff like ketamine or ex is class 3 drugs with lower penalty (why? no idea) so clubs use them all the time. In fact it’s far easier to find E and ketamine and even meth than pot.

I think those codine or whatever that contains morphine is found in such a low amount in those OTC drugs you really would need something like 100 bottles to even get a high.

Idk why you guys are so fixated on your false information.

FIFY.

First-hand experience. Why is it false information?

I’m a lot of bad things, but I’m not a liar.

Perhaps Gain has never been to Zhongli or Taoyuan. I saw drugs in the open within three weeks of being here. People being carried out of the club in k holes, meth use in foreigner circles.

No ones Mentioned the mushrooms yet.

True. I don’t like @jimipresley at all - he really seems to be a terrible person. Perhaps one of the worst people here.

I’ve never known him to lie though.

i put it on the wack things thread a few days ago…

so getting back on topic, top 10 pros or what?

I’m actually squishy and cuddly, and I smell like a puppy. I even have a tail that I wag prodigiously when I’m being petted and stroked.

Stop.

I don’t get the hype about thai food, its good and all but i wouldn’t put it higher than everywhere else i’ve been in asia.

Deluded or i have eyes…

Taiwan’s overdose death is usually in double digits in a whole year. Idk why you are trying to suggest otherwise.

I didn’t see @Dr_Milker discuss drug deaths. He said that drug use is rampant in Taiwan - which it definitely is in Taoyuan. It might not be the drugs that are most likely to kill people, but they’re taking them. Just last night I had the whiff of ketamine as I was on my nightly constitutional.

Uh…I didn’t suggest otherwise. I just commented about rampant drug use in Taiwan.

If it’s that bad how come no one’s dying from overdose?
