So I know the question of retirement in Taiwan has been bandied around a few times but mostly by people who haven’t actually lived in Taiwan or sometimes have even confused Taiwan with Thailand. My wife and I lived in Taiwan (Taipei city and county) for 8 years on and off from 1998-2010. Initially it was for Chinese study, but after we both taught English (yes, Engrish teachers, I know), until we moved back to Winnipeg, MB, Canada in 2010. I know this isn’t Taiwan related, but the city I am living in is imploding. A 3 year old killed by being stabbed multiple times? Man, can I wait 4 years for my pension?
Where should I live? poll In a few years I will be financially independent enough to move back to Asia if I so choose. But where to live? Visa issues aside, I am pretty sure that I could afford to live in almost any Asian Country ( except Japan), but the above choices are the ones that my wife and I have narrowed it down to. But which one offers the best “easy life”? This means, if I was to work, it would be for a maximum of 20 hours a week, which would be more to keep busy than anything else.…
