The 2006 edition of le Tour gets underway today. It has started with a massive controversy with the two favorites, Jan Ulrich and Ivan Basso, left out of the race over doping allegations. Without Lance Armstrong riding the race is now wide open. I am cheering for Cadel Evans who could be the first Australian to ever win the race. He finished 8th in his first Tour last year.

I used to like watching the Tour de France, especially the mountain stages where the best drivers separate themselves from the pretenders.
Now, with all the doping scandals, I have lost interest. I believe all of the top riders use illegal substances/methods in one way or another, and its just a matter of getting caught or not.
Correct. I m just wondering why this hasn t been done while L. Armstrong was still competing
Well for sure, they ve all got to use something. You cannot ask riders to ride at more than 50 km/h during 3 weeks, the mountain stages etc without taking something I suppose. They are human beings.
Even teenagers in their early races are now using illegal substances. Something must be done now to get rid of doping

non existent on cable TV… But you can watch it on Supersports… all you need is a bar that has DSTV and wants to show it or record it for you

But as I dont have cable TV where I live perhaps you can advise the forumosans here which channel shows the whole live racing every day???
