It’s probably apochryphal, but I remember hearing something about a town in New Jersey that had a motto contest. One of the leading contenders was “Hey, ya gotta live somewhere”
My wife tells me that some cities in Taiwan have town mottoes… I did not know that.
After a quick search, I found the motto for Fall River, Massachusetts, the city I was born in. It’s about as lame a motto as you’re likely to find: “We’ll try”.:loco:
Neighboring New Bedford, of Moby Dick fame, has a much better one: “The Whaling City”.
