I have a Toyota wish.
My previous car was a Toyota surf.
The headlights of this wish are just driving me crazy.
Is it my imagination or are head lights not as bright or effective as the lights that were in my surf.
It’s a little unnerving especially roads that curve. It seems that my Surf would throw light just a bit farther and night driving was much more comfortable.
They got some automotive store said it’s normal… are there any lights I can buy that are just are a little more effective yet still be legal?
I’m also having trouble figuring out these lighting settings. Some do not seem much different to me. Thank you.
I’m sure @Ducked has some creative ideas on how to tweak the lights and make some other mods too.
Top one is side lights,
Middle is front fog light
bottom orange one is rear fog light
Have you tried using full beam? if you can provide a picture of the front of the car from the outside with the lights on, might help
Too modern for me mate.
And OP, NO ONE can tell you if your Surf’s lights were brighter than your Wish’s, or its just your imagination.
They don’t have your Surf
They don’'t have your Wish
They don’t have your imagination
Might be the ride height, which is probably higher in the Surf.
You can get “I Am Become DEATH, Destroyer Of Worlds” and other less-Chinese brands of searingly bright mis-focussed aftermarket LED headlight bulb replacements.
These probably are illegal in Taiwan and elsewhere. If they aren’t, they should be.
But since we ARE in Taiwan, such illegality doesn’t matter. They are very popular.

You could also pr fit supplementary lights, as are popular with offroaders, though that’d be more complicated to do. These are probably also illegal in Taiwan, and it might be tricky to find somewhere to mount them on a Wish.
What’s your wheels, guvnor?
My youngest in the fleet is a mere 23 years old.
I have a Wish as well for the family car and the headlights are horrendous. My wife can’t even drive it at night which defeats the purpose of it being the family car.
I don’t have a fleet.
I have a 1986 Daihatsu Skywing.
An ambition was to have a GF younger than my car, but its looking as if that ship has sailed.
Nice!
I have three Volvo estates.
I don’t know either.
Good headlights though
I once travelled to Taipei from Tainan to look at a Volvo 240 estate but the seller stood me up and I bought a Ford instead, which turned out to be a mistake.
Quite fancied one for Taiwan. Probably not in the UK because of the petrol price.
Yeah i’m in the UK - it’s alright at the moment (102p per litre and can’t go anywhere) but at normal petrol prices its a 90 quid fill up. 18mpg is painful, but it’s cheaper overall than paying monthly for some business-sycophant-mobile.
Have you had a look at where the beam is pointing?
I had to adjust the wife car after she got it (the dipped beams looked like it was cross eyed and it had past its inspection).
There are normally headlight adjustment screws on the light mounting and instructions / measurements online.
You could also try brighter bulbs road legal ones (but they don’t last as long)
make sure you get the ones to fit your car.
Example below
Also make sure your headlights are clean.
if you do all the above it will be about the best you can get without any wiring etc.
If you do put in the brighter bulbs please make sure they are not blinding other road users
Note that, according to the manufacturer, Osram NIGHT BREAKER is “Light that makes your heart race” so you should probably seek medical advice before fitting it to a vehicle you will be driving regularly.
