🇺🇸 📃 Travel Insurance |Recommendations for 2 months in USA?

Any good insurance recommendations for hospital and catastrophic illness coverage for the USA? My friend will stay in the US for about 2 months. Thanks in advance!

Wish I could help, but Google may be your best bet to find a company in this case.

I used https://overseasinsurance.brokersnexus.com/ to purchase a Patriot America plan last time we went. Patriot America seems to be the only plan that supports American Citizens who have residency elsewhere.

  • Many different brokers re-sell the Patriot America plan, we went with Overseas Insurance since their customer support seemed responsive on LINE, so the hope was they could help us out if we needed to make a claim

Online it’s very iffy about actually trying to make a claim with the Patriot America plan, so I view it as a “if I get $US250k medical bill and it’s worth bringing lawyers in” type of insurance. If you just have a flu or typical infection I’d just accept that you’re going to pay $US100 out of pocket to go to a minute clinic.

If your friend is not an American Citizen they may be better off trying to find a broker here locally that they could chase down in person if they needed to actually make a claim.

I’m Canadian and frequently travel to the U.S. for extended periods, sometimes for weeks at a time. This is the provider I use, though I’ve never had to make a claim. From my understanding, it operates as a platform or online broker rather than a direct insurer. They often offer smaller plans with maximum coverage limits of $20,000 to $50,000, and you can adjust the deductible to suit your needs.

In my case, the premium was quite low—if you don’t require extensive coverage, it can be as little as $20 to $30 per month, or even less. However, you should carefully check whether the plan has a network requirement, as some policies may limit coverage to specific healthcare providers. Additionally, certain plans have residency or location requirements, meaning your eligibility might depend on where you live or where you are physically located at the time of purchase of the travel insurance. Be sure to review the details before committing to a plan.

Good Advice. My friend is Taiwanese and will ask around locally as well. Thank you.

I will check out the visitorcoverage website. Thank you!
