Travel Writers?

Really nice online magazine www.e-marginalia.com is seeking submissions. Go to their Submissions page. Good luck.

Great - thanks for that. Anyone else interested in getting into travel writing more seriously, I have to recommend the Lonely Planet guide - well written, frank and useful look into taking on travel writing as a profession…great for magazine and paper contacts at the back…

Here is my summary of my experience at e-margaux.com. I just visited the site today, and looked it over. There are but two submissions to the travel writing contest in the archives from Taiwan. The first is about eating at a night market in Taipei, and the second about political rallies in Taiwan. The articles are quite short and to the point.

Tantalizing Taipei Night Markets

Taiwan in Turmoil

If you wanted to publish travel writing and you thought your writing was good, then you could try this site. There are about 10 contests a year, but many of the contests require an entry fee (around NT$100). If you write an article that is most popular, you win the contest, and they will give you a reward (you win about NT$1 for each person who read your article, up to NT$2000). It looks like ā€œTantalizing Taipei Night Marketsā€ (link above) won an award.

The next contest that doesn’t have an entry fee is:
Freestyle Open, submission deadline: Sept. 1
Articles tracked for contest: Nov. 1-Dec. 31, 2 Months
1,500 words with no restrictions on topic/theme.

Actually there are five, topics were not necessarily related to Taiwan.

Reminder to all that the contests are now free. Now accepting submissions for the next Travel Writing Contest. Good luck! See submission guidlines: e-margaux.com/en/e-marginalia/sub-guide.htm .
